Lewis Parker Green, a member of the Philadelphia Bar Association for more than 60 years, died Jan. 24 at Keystone Hospice in Wyndmoor, Pa. He was 98.

Mr. Green was born July 6, 1920. He grew up in South Philadelphia’s Girard Estates and graduated from South Philadelphia High School and Pennsylvania State College, now Pennsylvania State University.

He was in his first year of graduate school at Stanford University when the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941. He enlisted in the Army Air Corps, where he rose to the rank of First Lieutenant, and became a traffic officer, supervising air transportation for passengers and cargo, serving in England and France.

After the war, he attended the University of Pennsylvania Law School and became a member of the law firm of Bortin and Frater, later Frater, Green and Levy.

Later in his career, he joined the Philadelphia Defender Association, representing juveniles in Family Court. He used to say that no matter what his young clients had done, they were "still kids," and tried to help them cope with their problems.
