Francis “Betty” N. Mast died peacefully Friday, Dec. 1, 2017 at Messiah Lifeways. Born in Lancaster on Jan. 26, 1927, she was a daughter of the late Fred and Mary (Forney) Nestel. Betty was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Fred M. Mast Jr., brother, Richard Nestel, twin sister Margaret Graybill, and granddaughter Kimberly Baldwin.

Betty graduated from Lancaster McCaskey High School. In 1965, she moved with her family from Lancaster to Shiremanstown. Loving mother of 4 boys, she was a homemaker and worked in the cafeteria for the Mechanicsburg School District. She was a faithful member of the Mechanicsburg Church of the Brethren, where she was a Sunday School teacher and active participant in many programs that assisted church members.  She also volunteered at the Brethren Homes.

Betty enjoyed many activities including: baking, gardening, quilting, playing cards, and doing words searches, especially when it included the family. Her Christmas cookies were a well- known delicacy. She was a soft spoken, loving, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.

She is survived by her sister, Doris Dohl, four sons: Fred Mast III, Eric Mast and wife Sandy, Michael Mast and wife Kathy, and Joe Mast and wife Kristen.   She has 4 grandchildren: Amy Mast Ober and husband Kyle, Nate Mast and wife Ashley, Abigail Mast, and Liliana Mast, and two great-granddaughters:  Macy Ober and Madeleine Baldwin.

A memorial service will be held Tuesday, Dec. 5, at Messiah Village Chapel. Visitation is from 6-7pm with a service beginning at 7pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Central PA and Messiah Lifeways of Mechanicsburg, PA. Special thanks to the wonderful and caring staff of Hospice and the Aspers Unit of Messiah Lifeways.
