Mildred Virginia Waggoner Darr Rickard

Mildred Virginia Waggoner Darr Rickard, has completed her earthly journey and joined our Lord and Savior on September 23, 2014 in heaven.

Born June 22 1918, she was the oldest daughter of the late George C. Waggoner and Barbara B. (Stone) Waggoner. Mildred graduated from Mechanicsburg High School in 1937. She was baptized, confirmed and a life member of “The Old Stone Church”, known as St Paul’s Lutheran Church today. Mildred grew up and lived in the Mechanicsburg area, moving to Shermans Dale in 1971.

Mildred is preceded in death by her first husband, Merrill Darr, and her second husband Harry Rickard. She will also be welcomed in heaven by her sister June Waggoner Darr and grandsons Danny Watson and Brice Sheaffer.

She is survived by her children: Dennis (Pam) Darr, Columbus, OH and Barbara Taylor, Shermans Dale, PA. Surviving step-children are: Harry William Rickard, Paris, TN; Betty Watson, Odessa, TX; Rebecca (Bruce) Sheaffer, Shermans Dale, PA; Samuel (Robin) Donald, Denison, TX and Kay Donald Eitel, Plano, TX. Mildred is also survived by her youngest sister, Helen Waggoner Baney, Mechanicsburg, PA.

Affectionately known as Maw-Maw or Grandma to her 20 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild, or to her many nieces and nephews as Aunt Mimmie. She was a woman filled with love and devotion to her family, and always with a kind word and warm hug to share.

Following cremation, services will be held on October 4, 2014 at St Paul’s Lutheran Church, 6839 Wertzville Road, Enola PA. Visitation will begin at 10:00 with a memorial service starting at 11:00. Interment will follow the service at the church cemetery. Please join the family in the celebration of Mildred’s 96 years of life by remembering your favorite story of her, and by dressing in the beautiful colors of her flower gardens that she loved.
