Anna M. Barr

 

Anna M. Barr, 92, of Harrisburg, passed away peacefully in the care of Homeland Hosice September 8, 2014, at her home in the company of her caregivers, Brenda/Ed Kleckner; great-grandson, Charles R. “Chaz” Stevens; and granddaughter, M. Kain Kriner. She was the widow of Kenneth L. Barr.

 

Born December 19, 1921, she was a daughter of the late John R. and Ethel E. (Huff) Seigle.

 

Anna was an extraordinary seamstress and worked for Hempt Brothers as a secretary and PA Fabric Outlet for many years. Her joy was people, always there with a smile to help anyone in need. She took great comfort in her church and enjoyed knitting, crotcheting, baking, and spending time with her family.

 

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by sons, Barry J. Elder and Kenneth L. Barr, Jr.; granddaughter, Jennifer Lynn Barr; sister, Mary Richards; brothers, John Seigle, Jr., Elsworth “Mike” Seigle, George A. Seigle, Joseph “Jimmy” Seigle and Charles Seigle.

 

In addition to her caregivers, great-grandson and granddaughter, Anna is survived by sisters, June Crum of Harrisburg, Luella Braund of Mechanicsburg, and Emmie Williamson of Dover, DE;daughter-in-law, Carol Elder; grandson, Eric Elder; granddaughter, Beverly (Tim) Spangler; great-grandchildren, T.J., Kevin and Bailie Spangler all of York; granddaughter, Jolie Elder (W. “Doug”) Barron of Mableton, GA; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and neighbors.

 

Anna will be sorely missed by all.

 

Per her request, there will be no services. In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Central PA Animal Alliance, 180 Walden Way, Mechanicsburg, PA 17050, in honor of the many stray animals she cared for; or Homeland Hospice, 2300 Vartan Way, Harrisburg, PA 17110, who took care of her in the weeks preceding her death.
