Earl John Eisenhardt

Earl John Eisenhardt, 82, passed away on Wednesday, June 20, 2012 at Mifflin Center in Reading.

John (affectionately known as "Pops") was born on May 22, 1930 to the late Nicholas and Ellen Eisenhardt in Reading. He had four siblings: the late Norman Eisenhardt, the late Richard Eisenhardt, Ruth (Eisenhardt) Stallone and Nicholas Eisenhardt, all of Reading. John married the late Fern A. (Moehler) Eisenhardt in 1957 and they resided in Bernville.

Although he worked at Parish Press Steel in Reading until his retirement, John was a handyman, a "Jack-of-all trades" and a go-getter who always had several part-time jobs including: welding, remodeling, delivering shale and repairing and selling used items he had collected.

John had two great passions in his life, the first of which was family. He was completely devoted to his wife and to his six children: Eva Marie (Eisenhardt) Schloesser, wife of the late Richard Schloesser of Reading; John Eisenhardt of Leesport; Cynthia Eisenhardt of Reading; Heidi (Eisenhardt) Devlin of Lebanon; Cathleen (Eisenhardt) Rioux wife of Mark Rioux of Bernville and Michael Eisenhardt of Bernville.

His other passion was traveling, specifically traveling by cruise ships. Initially, these trips were family vacations but after their children were grown; John and Fern still continued to travel regularly on their own until she passed away in 2004. Together, they visited more than 58 countries and traveled to every continent except Antartica.

John is also survived by eight grandchildren: Hans Schloesser of Reading; Michael Kreitz of Los Angeles, CA; Alexander Dragon of Lebanon; Tanya (Rioux) Keenan of Philadelphia, Jeramie Eisenhardt of Bernville; and Yoli and Andrei Eisenhardt of Leesport.

A private service will be held by the family.
