Dorothy was born on November 9, 1921 in Palmyra, PA, one of nine children, to the late Charles Hafer and Agnes Seltzer Hafer.

She was a 1939 graduate of Palmyra High School. She was employed at Hershey Foods and later at the Reese's Co. from where she retired in 1983.

On April 21, 1946 she married her husband of 58 years, Robert E. Boose, who preceded her in death on November 3, 2004.

Dorothy is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, David and Janus (Colm) Boose of State College, PA; 2 grandsons, Kristian and his fiancee, Johanna Crane of Seattle, WA and Joshua and his wife, Megan (Burke) Boose of Budd Lake, NJ; sister, Mary Jane Fackler, Palmyra, PA; and a brother and sister-in-law Charles and Jane Hafer, Elizabethtown, PA; and many nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death are brothers, Harry, Raymond, and Malcolm; sisters, Edith Funck, Anna Cline, and Gladys Shirk.

Dorothy loved to read, work crossword puzzles, and work outside, especially to rake leaves. She enjoyed being with family and was very proud of her grandsons, Kris and Josh. She made the best Sour Cherry Pie and would always bring the turkey to Thanksgiving dinner no matter where it was held.

The family would like to thank the staff of the Lebanon Valley Brethren Home, where Dorothy resided since May 2011, for all of their gentle and loving care.
