Thomas S. Marshall

Thomas S. Marshall of Rattlesnake Road, Brockway, died Saturday, February 8, at Highland View Nursing Center following a short illness. He was born on January 29, 1916, in Chickasaw, Armstrong County, PA, to Thomas J. and Ellen Stewart Marshall.

He was married to Mae Korb on April 16, 1941, and she preceded him in death on March 7, 1990. Thomas was the last surviving member of 3 siblings: Jean Britton, "Chick" (James) Marshall and Rachel Harding. Tom is survived by 2 daughters: Phyllis Howard and her husband Steve of New Bethlehem and Carolyn Stoneberg of Brockway; 3 grandchildren: Thomas Howard and his wife Meredith of Spring Grove, PA, Daniel Howard and his fiancAC. Marissa McMurtrie of Philadelphia, and Mercedes Uhl and her husband David of Pleasant Hills, PA; and 3 great grandchildren: Grant Howard, Emily Howard, and Thomas Uhl.

During his 98 years, Tom was known to many in the Brockway area as owner of the Marshall Brothers Service Station on Cherry Street. He was appreciated for his generosity and sense of humor. He enjoyed traveling and was an avid rock and mineral collector. He also worked with stained glass and many family and friends were recipients of his lamps and window hangings. Tom enjoyed nature, music, and listening to baseball games.

There will be a memorial service at the Brockway Presbyterian Church, 817 Main Street, Brockway, PA 15824, at 2pm on Saturday, February 22nd with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that anyone interested make a donation to the Brockway Presbyterian Church or to the charity Smile Train, P.O. Box 96231, Washington D.C. 20090-6231.
