Nano Christov Nanov, age 100, of Mechanicsburg, passed away Monday January 28, 2019, at Carolyn’s House, Harrisburg.  Born March 10, 1918, in Pleven, Bulgaria, son of Christo Partcheff and Katherina Dimitrova.
Nano studied engineering in Berlin, Germany, where he met his wife Irene. In 1949 they left Berlin to go to Sydney, Australia where they lived until 1955.  Immigrating to the United States, they finally settled in Harrisburg, PA where he worked as a civil engineer for the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation until his retirement in 1983.  In the years since, he has enjoyed fishing the streams of central Pennsylvania, and visiting the beach in Wildwood, N.J.  He also enjoyed spending time with his family, both here in Harrisburg and taking many trips to his daughter’s family in Germany, and to his brothers and their families in Bulgaria.
Surviving are his loving wife of 69 years, Irene; a daughter Katherina Nanov-Schwehr and husband Helmut Schwehr of Zell im Wiesental, Germany; a son Peter Nanov and wife Diane of Mechanicsburg; grandchildren Friedrich Schwehr, Peter Nanov, Tonio Schwehr and wife Aidan, Konrad Schwehr and Lisa Nanov.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, February 9, 2019 at Evangelical Lutheran Church of our Savior, 420 N. Progress Ave, Harrisburg, PA 17109, with visitation beginning at 10:00 and service at 11:00.  Inurnment will be at Rolling Green Cemetery, 1811 Carlisle Road, Camp Hill, PA 17011.  In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Nano’s memory to Carolyn’s House, 1701 Linglestown Road, Harrisburg, PA 17110.  The family wishes to thank the wonderful caregivers and staff at Carolyn’s House for their caring, compassionate care to Nano and his family.
