Ralston Richard Shockley Jr, 78, of Harrisburg PA, passed away on December 20th at the Spring Creek Nursing Center, Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Born on July 15th 1940, in Port Deposit, Maryland, he was the son of Ralston and Ethel Shockley. Ralston is survived by his beloved wife, Mary Jane Shockley of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Ralston served in the Marine Corp. and attended Octorara High School. He was a truck driver for many years.
Ralston was predeceased by four brothers, Charles, George, Samuel and Alex, two sisters Cora Boyd and Monica Johnson along with one child, Ralston Shockley III. Surviving in addition to his wife is one brother, James Shockley, Coatesville PA, and four sisters, Mary Tolton, Lancaster PA, Gloria Thompson, Parkesburg PA, Dorothy Shockley, Lancaster PA and Joan Smith, Norristown PA. Also seven children, Val Shockley, Charleston SC, Vinettia Keith, Pittsburg PA, Teresa DeVault, Harrisburg PA, Anquan DeVault, Reading PA, Gemetta Shockley, Reading PA, Justin Shockley, Reading PA and Traymone Shockley, Reading PA. Also, a stepson Darrell DeVault, Shillington PA. In addition, there are sixteen grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and many nephews and nieces.

Ralston was an avid fisherman and loved the outdoors. He was a lover of creation and enjoyed talking about wildlife and nature. He was quick to start a conversation and was very engaging and honest.

Ralston loved to spend time with his family. He really enjoyed cooking and baking. One of his many specialties was sweet potato pie. He was an expert auto and forklift mechanic, who could fix anything. Hard work and generosity were a part of his core and he was always willing to help when needed.

Ralston was aware of the promises contained in the Bible,   including those found in the book of Revelation 21:4, which says-

“And he (Jehovah) will wipe out every tear from their eyes
and death will be no more, neither will mourning
nor outcry or pain be anymore
The former things have passed away”

Ralston! You are greatly missed by your loving wife and family and all who know you!
